Claret

A 'special' form of a common crocus, probably the most common crocus species, Crocus tommasinianus.  It's a regular feature across Blip at this time of year.  There really aren't any pink or red crocuses, the closest we get are reddish purples which occur in this species, of which this is one.   It's very hard to capture the colour accurately (and perhaps we all see colour slightly differently too) but this one, 'Claret' is distinctly redder than the dark purple forms of which 'Whitwell Purple' is best known being sold in garden centres and very widely grown.

After my three days at work I took things gently this morning, an outing to take Jamie for a blood test and a spin out of Tywyn for him and Clara to see the snow on the hills, before lunch.   An afternoon of admin, mostly calls and emails around Ruth's impending move.   A run at the ball field for Meg then I cooked a ragu for our tea.  Yum!

Very distressed and disturbed by the news from Ukraine.   Distressed for all the innocent caught up in war.   Disturbed as I feel that Putin truly believes in the cause he is fighting for, believes he is in the right.  Not a lone, brainwashed, fanatic but a man with a finger on the nuclear button. Hard to believe this will end well - or soon :-(
