Lake Athabasca - Saskatchewan, Canada

After a couple of weeks of vacation, I was back in the air today and off to San Francisco. There were lots of opportunities for sightseeing during the flight. Thanks to the FlightRadar24 app I know that this is Lake Athabasca, a glacial lake that straddles the border of Saskatchewan and Alberta, just south of the Northern Territories. The lake is known for fly-in fishing.

The two smaller lakes at the bottom of the picture are Archibald Lake and East Archibald Lake. And the even smaller lake in between is Royal Lake. In between the lakes is the Athabasca Sand Dunes Provincial Park. The park area is accessible by boat or float-plane only. Just to the north of the lake is Uranium City - population at the last census in 2016 - 73! Down from 2057 in 1981, just before the mines closed. There is no road access but the city does have an airport!
