Loks very unhealthy

On an afternoon walk I saw a tall Kauri tree, with no leaves on the upper branches. And this oblong of bark removed at little more than eye height. I am guessing that this is an affected tree.

Some of New Zealand's kauri forests are seen from the air to have a lot of leafless tops among otherwise healthy trees. I strongly support the Rahui, and share the desire of the Mana Whenua to do everything we can to conquer this disease so that our mokopuna (children and grandchildren) will know Kauri from seeing the trees, not from books or film.
