Red Admiral

This morning I went for a walk with H all round Sheringham Park. On the way back, H spotted a Red Admiral on the rhododendron flowers. It was a bit dopey, but started waking up in the sun. This afternoon I took a pruning saw to take out some of the thick stems at the base of the buddleia - tired now! Good to hear that an extra 100,000 Ukrainians will be able to have sanctuary in the UK.

A shame that a key report by the UN on global warming, that was 6 years in the making, has not got much attention due to the understandable blanket coverage of the invasion of Ukraine. Key points include:
- Many of the impacts of global warming are 'irreversible';
- A brief window of time exists to avoid the very worst, but this window is narrowing (if kept to below a 1.5C rise);
- Humans and nature are being pushed beyond their abilities to adapt;
- Over 40% of the world's population are 'highly vulnerable' to climate, with at least 3.3bn already very vulnerable;
- Half of the living organisms assessed are already moving to higher ground or towards the poles;
- Even at a 1.5C rise, up to 14% of species assessed face a high risk of extinction;
- Over 140m could be displaced by 2050;
......and so, so much more.

Day 714 / Day 5 of no Legal Covid Requirements in England (for my record only)
No Covid news today due to the coverage of the invasion of Ukraine.
