At the pool cafe

Jack and I took Frieda and Luca swimming this morning. We went to a small local leisure centre just outside Sheffield, which has a warm baby/toddler section. Frieda's confident in the water; Luca is still figuring it out, and chose to sit on the edge with me, splashing his feet in the water. Anything that helps build his confidence is fine by me.

Then we had beans and baked potatoes in the cafe. Jack wouldn't normally be on his phone like this over lunch. But he's waiting to hear if he'll be going to work with Ukrainian refugees in Moldova next week. It would be a short visit, designed to support some small charities there that are already partnered with the big charity Jack works for. We are both hoping that the trip will work out: the chance to make a practical contribution, amidst so much fear and devastation, would be wonderful.
