a lifetime burning

Walking on water

Running over the surface of the lake rather than taking to the air the slightly panicky look on this Canada goose's face could be saying:  "I know I can do it, think I can do it,  ... its not happening ... come on why's it not working its always worked before ..."

Actually, the goose had been making a bit of a pest of himself trying to pinch another goose's mate and she really didn't like the idea at all.  Her honks of alarm were enough for her preferred male to come back to her side at some speed in full battle mode.  Our nervous Casanova immediately beat a very hasty retreat and peace and harmony were returned to the lake, for all of a minute or two until the coots kicked off again.

I'm not a big fan of Canada geese - but I quite liked this take off shot with the fleeing goose apparently in such a hurry to get away that he's walking on water.

Many thanks for your kind comments on Harriet and Harry the Marsh Harriers yesterday :-)
