Best day of the year . . . .

 . . . so far!

We woke up again to a beautiful day, which in this case proved to last all day. The three of us planned to drive down to Slockavoulin, south of Kilmartin, and go for a walk from there, stopping off for Sunday lunch at Lucy's, in Ardfern, on the way home. We'd not eaten there before, though had done a number of times at the café previously on the site, The Crafty Kitchen.

Unfortunately not long after passing the turnoff for Craobh Haven we came up to a long queue of traffic - we could see traffic queueing from the other direction too. There were no emergency services around and drivers were walking along to see what had happened. (Apparently, as we heard later, there had been a head-on collision, but fortunately no serious injuries)

Eventually we gave up, turned round and drove into Craobh (pronounced Croove) and took the track to walk over the hill to Ardfern, some two miles away. My Blip today is the view across the bay to the mountains of Mull on the horizon and my extras are Craobh Haven and Lucy's at Ardfern. We hadn't gone far before the cars began to appear - those in the know were using the old estate track to bypass the accident! We had a lovely walk and arrived in Ardfern an hour ahead of our booked lunchtime, but we managed to get in early. I suspect that many customers were still stationary on the road.

After lunch and a chat with a couple of acquaintances we walked back over the hill, regained the car, and drove home. An absolutely gorgeous day, though it was sad that our lovely unplanned walk came about by the misfortune of others.
