Spring of Deception

I saw the civil sun drying earth’s tears —
Her tears of joy that only faster flowed,

Fain would I stretch me by the highway side,
To thaw and trickle with the melting snow,
That mingled soul and body with the tide,
I too may through the pores of nature flow.

But I alas nor tinkle can nor fume,
One jot to forward the great work of Time,
‘Tis mine to hearken while these ply the loom,
So shall my silence with their music chime.

The Thaw, by Henry David Thoreau

My brother recently sent me a meme of sorts, that I'm sure has been making its way around the internet in various forms for some time, called "The 11 Seasons of the Midwest." It's pretty descriptive of our situation here as well and gave me a chuckle.

1. Winter
2. Fool's Spring
3. Second Winter
4. Spring of Deception
5. Third Winter
6. Mud Season
7. Actual Spring
8. Summer
9. False Fall
10. Second Summer (one week)
11. Actual Fall

The same location, in Actual Fall, Summer, and Mud Season
