Polishing off the syrup Sponge

We’ve had a busy day with the boys. It was raining after breakfast so we made Cornflake Crispies and they got one to take up to the woods when the rain stopped. They have built a bridge over a little stream and then started on building defences against invaders.

When it rained again Thomas and I played Monopoly while James did a computer game. Thomas had me bankrupt in no time.

I made syrup sponge for the first time since the 80s. It took 5 minutes in the microwave and the boys loved it. I even made old-fashioned custard. James asked it he could have it instead of birthday cake next birthday. He has a sweet tooth. By the way, we had no heating on. James stripped his top off because he had been using my rowing machine.

They are off home now so it’s feet up in front of the fire. Hopefully we’ll get a walk with Linda and Colin tomorrow if she can leave her mum who recently had a fall and is delusional, thinking her grandson is stealing stuff. It’s so sad and poor Linda is an only child so has all the responsibility.
