Fountains Abbey Blipmeet

Our first full day in North Yorkshire is delightful - an afternoon blipmeet with Clazel and husband J at Fountains Abbey. It’s a case of third time lucky - we’ve tried to meet on two previous occasions but failed - and we share an afternoon of sunshine, chat and glorious scenery. We’re so engrossed we almost miss the tea rooms - and as it is arrive too late for the National Trust scones we’ve planned as treats!

The abbey ruins are far more magnificent than I had imagined, and it’s hard to choose between glorious vaulted ceilings, perfect abbey reflections or the daffodil-decked ruins. In the end, I decide on the abbey reflections - perhaps bizarrely going for a mono shot (better viewed large, as always). I’m taken by the children captured in its arches, and feel the mono emphasises a timeless quality. And of course, I can’t resist the temptation for a couple of extras too ….
