Worried about 'little Gun'

Yesterday was the warmest for some time and marked a change in the weather. After three dry weeks, we woke this morning to rain. It's funny how quickly we get used to fine, dry weather, even if cold and how quickly cloud laden skies dampen the soul when the rain returns. Of course, we know that the ground needs it - the grass here was turning an ugly yellow-brown and even the moss appeared to be struggling. But we could have done with just another two or three days . . . ah, if only we had a climate like Provence, or California . . . then we'd just have other problems to contend with - and it wouldn't be Scotland!

So, today was spent working indoors, mainly at the PC doing community work and preparing for tomorrow's company meeting. The rain eased a bit in the afternoon but the sun never showed its face. Once again, we headed into the field in search of a blip. Our poor little Gunnera looks as though it is struggling. Having extracted it a few days ago from hibernation and damaged some stems in the process, it now appears to have been caught by the frost. This close-up shot of its leading stem doesn't look so bad but the leaf head is soft and brown. We delayed planting it out earlier because it was so cold but then didn't protect it sufficiently. Hopefully with this rain, the weather will get a bit warmer and we can only hope it hangs on in there!
