Quod oculus meus videt

Ladybower Reservoir (From Bamford Edge)

Cracking walk today, heading north along the lower Bamford Edge, before returning along the higher Stanage Edge.  R and I had walked Stanage Edge more than 10 years ago but never ventured along Bamford Edge.  It was an absolute joy to take this lower path with this fantastic view looking north east.  No wonder this location features in many photographs of the Peak District.

What you can't see from the image was the stiff wind that was coming up the hill and over the edge.  It was strong enough to lift water from puddles and stone pools along the walk and was ever present once we were in the exposed areas.  Our original intention was to have a walk near the summit of Snake Pass, which starts on the road over the bridge you can see in the distance.  Sadly, recent weather has caused subsidence  and the highways authority has closed the road even to cyclists and walkers (which has caused some complaints from these users).

It was an absolute stunning day for the walk and I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent, even though I feel a bit buffeted this evening.
