Getting ready to drill beans...

Chris was out today with his Caterpillar D4E and Albon Harrow.  This may look a bit 'old school' but Michael swears that this is the best combination for this job.

The crawler tractor is thirty six years old and the harrow was made in the blacksmith's forge just up the road from this field in Castle Camps. Albon was the name of the blacksmith, he was hammering these out back in the 1950s. The forge was right by The Oak if you look at the map.

Surprisingly low diesel consumption and low ground compression plus a harrow that does just what is needed make this a winning combination.

And another plus, beans don't need fertiliser...
