Chichester Marina

Today is our wedding anniversary. We're not big on celebrations but we did decide to have lunch at the Chichester Marina cafe. We had booked a garden booth but when we got there we were pleased to find out there were tables free inside - I think it would have been just too cold to eat outdoors although some people were.

The tide was in and there was a lot of activity on the water. We watched as gleaming toys were expertly and inexpertly sailed through the lock into the Marina. It's a big place with many hundreds of expensive looking, high tech boats moored along the labyrinth of pontoons (see extra). Their total value must run into nine figures. However, today's blip is of one which was tucked away in dry dock in a hidden corner quietly disintegrating; so I chose it for Derelict Sunday.

Tonight I watched the news and shed a tear for the teenager who has lost a leg due to the shelling in Ukraine. Her plight isn't unique, I know, but in that moment she represented for me the human face of all the suffering that is happening right now. It's impossible to ignore it.
