Ringed Plover - Frampton Marshes

Another day, another RSPB Nature Reserve.

We popped in to Frampton for an hour or so on our way back from my sis in laws. It was lovely and sunny when we got there, we almost decided to leave our coats in the car and walk the long way around. I am so glad we decided to head to the three sixty hide first, within twenty minutes of arriving the heavens opened and it chucked down.

Bird watching is always fun in the rain, the noise is awesome and all the birds have to hunker down so anything flying around can be spotted. This was the case with these delightful little waders, the Ringed Plover. There were plenty of wildfowl about, a couple of late Pintails, Gadwalls and Brent Geese. A Ruff wandered fairly close to the hide window and was very nearly my blip tonight.

We went over to Peterborough Speedway in the evening. I didn't take the camera as it gets dark shortly after tapes up, and you can't get the shutter speeds for this high octane sport. It was a cracking night, and we met up with some of our twitter friends. Peterborough lost, but there were some cracking races in the middle of the meeting. Swindon Robins have only dropped a single point so far and look pretty unbeatable, but it's a very long season and injuries inevitably happen.

Cracking day!
