Across Derwentwater

We left Edinburgh this morning via Mellis’s Cheese shop in Morningside for a most enjoyable drive to Keswick via the Tweed Valley to Moffat and on to the M74 and M6.

We’re staying for a few days with Adam and Jane in Keswick and plan to bag a few Wainwrights over the next couple of bays before heading south to Kent on Thursday.

Lunch was at the Bassenthwaite Station cafe on the shores of the lake of that name. This restored station has a replica SNCF loco and three carriages in the platform which were used as part of the recent Murder on the Orient Express film.

From there we went for a walk with their dog Brody from their house to Derwentwater, calling in at a pub on the way. A lovely evening ensued.

Thank you for all your recent comments, I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to visit journals over the next few days
