Tea stop

A grand day out on the Fells. Great Gable, Green Gable and Brandreth bagged today on what was a lovely day for March. A little hazy but no low cloud which meant all the surrounding fells could be seen. This shot shows Ennerdale in the background.

We took the route up from Honister Pass which led to a very demanding final ascent to the summit of Great Gable where we stopped for lunch. On several occasions I didn’t think I was going to make it.

A much easier return down to Windy Gap which lived up to its name and then up to Green Gable and on to Brandreth turning north to pick up this morning’s path back to the Pass and a cup of tea at the cafe.

Brody was indefatigable, covering at least twice the distance as the humans and twice the ascent and descent.

Out for dinner tonight at the Pheasant.

Three more Wainwright’s ticked off. I’ll have to count up the total.
