A taste of summer

I'd have told you hares don't appear on our side of the moors until two days ago.  I'm still sure I haven't seen a skylark as this is on the other side where we had a light stroll this morning.  I was surprised to hear a drumming snipe again - right near the road.  It's wonderful in the mornings at the moment - curlews, lapwings, meadow pipits and skylarks all calling and singing away.

I had a swift ride, waiting until the temperature had warmed up for shorts and short sleeves. I wasn't sure whether to make the most of it or avoid it in order to acclimatise for next week's temperature plummet.

Conclusion - make the most of it!
