Poor Choice Of Perch

We startled Jack heron on our walk around the lake this morning and he flew to perch on the top of a Christmas tree. It didn't go to plan as the twigs wouldn't support his weight. He soon took off again.

This afternoon bee-flies were swarming around the oak tree. I've added an image to extras of one in flight showing its shadow on the tree trunk.
