Last visit

(3/4/22)
(I am going to attempt to catch up with all my blips for last week!)

Today was to be our last visit to EXPO 2020. We had an early start, leaving home before 9 AM, to meet with our friends Gladson and Susan at the gate. That way, they could benefit from G's orange pass and avoid the long queues that are building up in these last days. Sadly, it didn't happen as they got delayed, so we went ahead and visited the Poland Pavilion. We had been in it before, but only for a Chopin concert. Today, we saw the rest of it, and it was fantastic.

Susan and Gladson arrived just as we were ready to go into Korea. Their building has been wowing people with its futuristic design, and there are often long queues to get in. Fortunately, G gets fast-tracked before 1 PM, but we discovered today they would only allow one person with her, so S&G went to less busy countries, while G & I saw Korea. I can't say I was impressed, but I can't go into too much detail here.

We then went to Belgium, France, (Thailand), Iran and Chile. That finished the big pavilions on Horizon Avenue for us. It leaves just China, Egypt, Palestine, Japan and Germany, which are close together but on the other side. The fast track queue for Egypt was over 40 minutes long; China didn't look good either, but a kind security guard allowed G and her three friends in! Germany and Japan remain elusive!

We got S&G into Pakistan - which they loved. Then to the USA, Israel and Palestine. (We got in there just before closing time). In between, we stopped to eat dinner in Terra's vegan restaurant. A big surprise - fireworks at 8:15! I think we tired our friends out, but they were game for everything. We finally walked out at 10:30. I had to capture a shot with the gate (bottom left) for posterity!

PS. We popped into Croatia (electric car) and Estonia (blue balls) on the way to the Opportunity District. The building at the bottom right is Alif, the Mobility Districts' themed pavilion.
