Life in Sunny Dubai

Season 25

(29/3/21)
We finally got to Global Village for the first time this season. Normally, we wouldn't do something like this on Palm Sunday but an opportunity to meet up with friends who we haven't seen properly in almost twenty years came up. Sunday was the best evening for them. It's funny how you can live within 20 miles of each other and not meet! Time flies and life gets busy I guess.

It's so sad that GV's 25th anniversary is during Coronavirus. Despite how much we love this event, we've stayed away to be sensible. It wasn't too crowded, though you still had to be on your guard. The authorities have placed hand sanitising dispensers everywhere and there are constant announcements to remind visitors to keep a safe distance. Most complied.

We chose a Pakistani outlet to eat at, something I won't be doing again. The food was OK but the service was terrible. Our friends were very gracious. We realised how much there was to catch up on so there was lots of chatter. It was good to walk through Africa on the way to Jordan and Palestine to eat some Nablus Kunafa. It's something G loves and always looks out for.

We finally said our goodbyes around 11 pm. It was a case of straight home and straight to bed. A fantastic evening, but no energy to even think about blipping!

Earlier in the day, we had an early start with Sohail coming at 8 am to service the living room A/c and then Binu coming at 9 to service the bedroom units. It was all coordinated to finish in time for Nara to clean the flat for the last time in we don't know how long yet.

We went to Dubai Mall to be out of his way and also to renew the Trade Licence. It was the first working day after the official mourning period for Sheikh Hamdan, so the branch was busier than normal. There was a charge I needed to remove first. There's a new system in place. In the past, this little discrepancy was corrected immediately. Now, there is a man who has to make an online request, charges over £10 and you might have to wait up to three working days before you hear back. I always live in hope. :)
