Any "Fugologists" out there?

NOT quite the same as these in the back, infesting the stump of the long  extinct Birch Tree, those bore a slight but unchecked resemblance to Honey Fungus. They were these ones.

I was doing one of my customary wanders, clipping the odd stray bit of Annaballe I'd missed  and a spot of desultory deweeding when I came across this one almost gone, looking at the top, but not the Gill side.
Any ideas?
