Celestial Crossings - completed!

Last September I blipped the new mural  on our Theatr Gwaun. Beautifully rendered in midnight blue and gold, it featured a multitude of connections between the land and the sea as experienced by our coastal community across the ages: fishers and mariners, saints and  pirates, travellers and tourists, along with folklore, art and music-making, and the wild life of the coastal waters.

A key of twenty symbols represents each topic  referenced in the mural (many images being inspired by local children's input). I was asked to write a brief paragraph on each for a booklet entitled "Celestial Crossings, the stories behind the mural."  It was quite an undertaking but by a miracle of condensation I managed to keep the word count down to the required length and off it went to the Welsh translator and the printer. That was a few weeks ago but today the finished product reached my hands, and a very attractive item it is. Free of charge too - as was my labour!

Out of respect I should acknowledge the sponsors and funders of the mural project which has been a big boost for our cultural scene.
Led by Pembrokeshire CC with partners Wexford CC, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and Visit Wexford. Funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Ireland Wales Co-operation Probramme.
Mural designed and painted by Accent London (Grant Radford and Zoe Maslen.)
