Harlow Carr in Spring

Definitely a day for April showers.

Fine and sunny most of the way to Harrogate then the clouds rolled in. Just a 20 minute wait to get into Betty’s and they supplied us with umbrellas! (They are apparently going to build a canopy)
A lovely lunch of Lettuce, pea and mint soup and sandwiches whilst the rain came down in stair rods. Amazingly the sun came out as we left the restaurant to head into the garden.
Apart from a few light showers it was sunny for the rest of the afternoon.

Lovely drifts of narcissi and daffodils and several blossom trees and Rhododendrons in flower provided great Spring colours. Pots of tulips still to come but there were several pots of yellow tulips blooming. We’ll have to come back in a few weeks for the others.

Still lots of work going on changing and renewing paths but a
pleasant afternoon. Surprisingly we found the statues for Winter and Autumn  - see Harlow Carr Flickr link - in amongst the lovely Rhodies. We saw the Spring and Summer ones last year, no idea why we struggled to find the others they were in clear sight in amongst the woodland area.

Hard to choose one shot but I liked this one of the stream with the tree reflected in it and the Greater Celandines ( King Cups) at the edge of the water. See more from Harlow Carr here

Leaving the garden via the shop we noticed there was no longer an queue for Betty’s so went back in for tea and a treat.
Yum!
