Tarbat Ness

We had a lovely walk around Tarbat Ness this morning, having parked up in Portmahomack. We saw a striking Stevenson lighthouse, gorse flowers, rape seed flowers bursting out, snowy mountains in the distance, gorgeous peninsula light, big skies, hardy sea swimmers, and whale bones. Some of these things are in the extras (well, actually, mainly the lighthouse). The weather was largely superb although we did get caught in a short shower as we turned for home.

On the way back we stopped off at the supermarket … we had a choice of three in Tain, which is a remarkably well served small town, with an Asda, a Lidl and a Tesco. We went for the latter, and discovered that it was better stocked than Canonmills Tesco, but a great deal less busy.

The rest of the day, we have been chilling in our sweet little cottage, and mainly reading.

As the spring is somewhat behind Edinburgh up here, I am looking forward to seeing the leaves bursting out during our time here.
