April Sunshine

A trip to Bluebell Cottage Garden this afternoon, our first since last autumn. Over the winter SB and team have been busy making all sorts of improvements. Very impressive.

From there we walked our usual walk. First of all through a delightful wood, carpeted with celandine and wood anemone (extra). The bluebells are starting to come up, but their peak is a few weeks off. Then down to the River Weaver. We stopped for lovely views of first a song thrush and then a blackcap singing. And everywhere there is new growth.

Returning we walked into the cowslip meadow. The blip image speaks for itself. It’s a warm day, J is not wearing a hat. The reason she’s wearing wellies is that we left her boots at home, and these were in the boot.

This is my favourite time of year. Tinged with sadness today. We learnt that neighbour B, who we share our back hedge with, died yesterday, hours after we had seen her pottering about in her garden. One of those people who everyone really liked, it’s a real shock.
