From the orchard gate

This is my lazy, late in the day photo which requires almost no effort, just a stroll down the garden to the point where the overhead cables don't spoil my landscape; but it's also one of the times of year when the colours of our view are changing, so it's a good moment to record them again. The big field of winter wheat across the valley is very lush and green now, and although the trees still look brown from a distance, the hedgerows are starting to green. In the orchard, the first blossoms have opened on the young pear trees, while across our neighbouring field a large hawthorn or blackthorn is in bloom in the hedge. Soon there will be many more, along all the valley's hedgerows.
