Pub Portrait - Don

Next in the occasional series of Pub Portraits is Don.

Don is a relatively new member to the group being neither young or old. Clearly he is nearer one than the other but he is not part of either group.

He's new.....bloody hell.

I know Don as my daughter and his are at school together. And, after numerous weekends watching our daughters play netball in tournaments across the North West we got talking.

We've shared passions, walking, skiing, the great outdoors and a nice pint.

So, I dragged him along to a Friday night. Before long he was a regular but when we went away to The Dales in Oct 2019 he cemented his place.

3 days of walking, real ale, nice food and laughter followed and Don fitted right in. And everyone said, he fitted right in, so he must have. Or is it fit?

On the back of that, in 2020, as soon as lockdown restrictions allowed we [me and him] did the Kentmere Round. A great day. 11 Wainwright's bagged, 15km walked.

An ex traffic cop, he now mows a few lawns, delivers some leaflets and looks forward to a skiing holiday.

In this pic he's actually got a broken collarbone and bruising galore from an accident 2 weeks ago in Austria. Has booked for next year though...

So, Disco? He's in my phone as Disco Don, as when we first met he was talking his son to a street dancing class, and D is alliterative.
