If you can't beat them...

Marsh Marigolds ( Caltha palustris )

We had soon everything loaded into the Land Rover and were ready to set off.  Not long after we joined the M6 we discovered the southbound carriageway was closed between J23 and 24.  A lorry had overturned left the road and was being recovered.  Going by the pictures this had taken place at night.  Long before we got to J26 we were directed off the motorway.  Then we promptly got lost.  Eventually, the satnav got us to J23 and we continued.

The result was we were late arriving at the marina.  By the time we were fully loaded and ready to leave it was 4:30.  Normally we would be away by 2:00 ish.  We decided to only go as far as Tixel wide and spend the night.  Bad idea on a bank holiday in spring.  The moorings were wall to wall boats. Eventually, we found a spot between Tixel wide and the first lock.

The blip is a bit of an emergency blip.  The edge of the marina between our mooring and the offices was a mass of Marsh Marigold, fully open in the sun.  So as I took trolleys of food and gear along the pontoons I snatched a few shots.
