Home & Away

Runnymede

Today was my first outing with Alfie the Campervan! Not an overnight stay, but a day-outing with my friend Helen who normally lives in Tanzania and is back ‘home’ in England for a few weeks. We drove to Runnymede which is near Windsor and only 30 minutes away from home. Runnymede is famous for being the location of the signing of the Magna Carta, 807 years ago.

We parked Alfie right by the river Thames where we could watch the boats go by, and had a picnic lunch with soup, sitting outside. There wasn’t much sunshine but it was warm and dry.

After lunch we went for a walk. There are various monuments and exhibits to see, the most important being the Magna Carta Memorial, installed by the American Bar Association.

Afternoon tea!

We came back to Alfie just before it started to rain a little bit. We were able to keep the big door open but we put the kettle on and had afternoon tea and spent the rest of the afternoon catching up on news and indulging in hot cross buns and banana bread. A great outing!
