This is the day

Sylvan idyll?

Well, no, actually! This path is near the beginning of our daily walk, and it's just at the top of our road. Out of sight to the right of the photo is the busy Woodford High Road, but this tract of land – a tiny fragment of the ancient Epping Forest – can certainly give the impression of being quite rural. I love it when the Queen Anne's lace comes out into flower, it always looks so countryfied and the (Spanish) bluebells dotted around under them add to that impression. All within a few hundred yards of our house.

After our morning walk we did some household jobs and were then treated to a surprise visit this afternoon from son #2 and granddaughter #2 for a couple of hours. Granny spent a happy time in her craft room with L, punching and die cutting shapes out of patterned papers. When they left L skipped off, happily clutching two pretty scalloped envelopes of shapes, one for her and one for her little sister, so they can make pictures with them at home with Mummy.
