Nicky and her Nikon

Yellow fields

I had a busy morning doing laundry, some ironing, and then packing to go away for the weekend to Norfolk. While I was doing this Gavin was working and the alarm engineer was busy servicing the alarm. Xena was out with the dog walker having fun with her pals, and then everything synchronised rather well - the alarm engineer finished and left, Xena arrived back, and Gavin finished his zoom calls - so we got in the car and left.

The traffic was not bad but there was a problem on the A11 so we were diverted by Mrs Satnav on a more circuitous route than usual. Gavin had another zoom call at 2pm so we had to find a services where we could stop and he went and sat at a quiet table in Starbucks to have his call, while I waited in the car with Xena for about 45 minutes, reading my book - which I finished. Another brilliant book from Anne Tyler (I so love her style of writing) called The French Braid.

All the way through Cambridgeshire and Norfolk we saw so many glorious yellow fields of rapeseed, so as soon as we were able to stop we did and I took a few photos. I love the intense yellow of these fields as they are dotted all over the landscape.

We arrived at the house at about 5pm, we got Xena out the car and unloaded everything, but funny Xena, she went back and jumped in the car waiting, as she knows that when we are here it means beach time. So we took her down to the beach where she ran around like crazy chasing the ball. It was lovely and sunny but there is a strong wind which makes it much cooler than at home. The sand was blowing across the beach, and the tide was out so you could hardly see the water as there is just miles and miles of flat beach on this coastline. The kite surfers were having a grand time in this wind. We saw one guy arriving in the car park to go kite surfing, he was clearly in a Friday mood, as he was pulling on his wetsuit the music was belting out of his car, he was dancing to the music as he was putting his wetsuit on, and smoking a joint at the same time - oh to be so young and carefree!

Gavin is busy cooking dinner, a Kerala prawn curry from my favourite Rukmini Iyer roasting tin recipe book, and we are planning our walk for tomorrow.
