Unauthorised (?) copy

Early start for the day. S was the successful bidder to by a mid-century armchair, and we had to pick it up from a home in Devonport. As we were on the way back S saw this mural on a concrete block wall outside a house in Victoria Street. I stopped, parked and went back to take a photograph of it.

It is almost identical to the one I photographed just over ten years ago (in April 2012). That was painted by street artist Component, and the original is one of the most powerful images I've seen. Sadly, the original has been demolished as the carpark is now an apartment building.

Component was contracted to paint the boy with the rod on a wall in the foyer of the apartment building. The other boy in the original disappeared. This version, which is unsigned as far as I can tell, also omits the other boy and the original statement is now absent.

Spent almost the whole afternoon moving rugs and furniture including putting up the bookcases in the main room. After that I squeezed in a brief walk to the local superette, and on the way got an interesting photo of some electricity wires.
