If you go down to the woods today

Sadly Ash Dieback is affecting a large number of our local woods. The effects are exacerbated  by the strong winds of recent Winter storms.  I have come across several local woods which used to be open to the public but are now fenced off, with warnings of "Danger of Death" from the weakened trees.  

I guess that local wildlife trusts and similar woodland organisations just don't have the funds available to be able to do all the arboricultural work necessary to meet the requirements of their public health / personal injury liability insurers.

In the meantime it gives the old lyric "If you go down to the woods today you're sure of a big surprise" a whole new and non-bear related twist...
