Life's Little Moments

Warbler Days

This is the prime time for spring warbler migration in our area and a walk in the woods did not disappoint today.  Our little group of 5 saw 36 species, including 11 warbler species.  A good day!  One of the highlights was this beautiful male Black-throated Blue Warbler who came down to eye level, giving me some good shots.  Most of the warblers were feeding up high in the trees which didn't lend itself to photos.

On our way back, one of the group spotted a big female bear up in a tree with a tiny little cub.  I will put a shot in Extra but keep in mind it's heavily cropped and there was a bunch of branches in the field of view.  So, not a great pic, but you can see mama and her tiny baby.  Very unusual to see a black bear with just one cub as they commonly have 2-5.  Makes you wonder what happened...  We all took some pictures then continued on our way, leaving her up in her tree.

I dropped Jax off at day care this morning so have had a full day to myself which is blissful!  After spending about 3 hours walking with the group, I ran into town and took care of some errands, then back home to put the hide out on the patio for a while.  All very enjoyable even in spit of much cooler temps and a slight mist.

I'm headed for the dark with macadamia nuts again today (thanks KangaZu!).
