Emerging

Two days ago we were at Harlow Carr and I photographed some really vibrant tulips as there was no sign of any in our garden.

Today after some heavy rain and horrendous winds overnight I spotted these in the corner of the garden.
I shouldn't be surprised that these are the first to flower as they usually are but what is surprising is that they are still flowering at all. These were the first tulips we planted when we moved into the house and that will be 30 years ago in November! Not bad value eh?
They are a small multi headed tulip and they fight their way through whatever has grown over them in the intervening years. We have about 5 clumps in all.

I have noticed a sneaky snail in there too!
