A change of view

See yesterday!

Way back in 2019, we arranged a home swap with a couple from Barcelona. They stayed at our house over Christmas, while we were at S’s mum’s, and Mystère was in Spain being looked after by R and A. The idea was that they would reciprocate later by lending us their cottage in the Catalan Pyrenees.

Well, we all know what happened next. It wasn’t till now, over two years later, that we took them up on their offer. It was a last minute arrangement — the weather forecast was glorious and S has a couple of people in the area he wants to talk to. So we packed up and whizzed off this morning.

It’s not that far as the crow flies, but it still took close to 6 hours to get here, including a lunch stop — that’s mountain roads for you (blip). The house is in a delightful situation, tucked away in a hamlet off the “Eje Pirenaica”, the road that runs the length of the Spanish side of the Pyrenees. The house is like a Tardis — small on the outside but with a surprising amount of space inside. There’s a small back garden, a balcony big enough for a couple of chairs, and a large terrace with lovely mountain views. We’ve just sat out there in balmy evening sunshine eating dinner — warm enough to stay out till after eight.

I have a somewhat jury-rigged system for blipping, involving tethering iPad to phone. I took a better photo with the camera, but had a technical glitch getting it onto the iPad, so this is a phone shot. Blipping may be intermittent.

Extra, if I can manage to load it: a Riddley Walker-esque appliqué spotted in La Pobla de Segur, where we went shopping.
