Life is a Challenge!

By Honeycombebeach

These were the words of Mr. HCB as he opened the door of the conservatory and saw the rain on the windows and heard it on the roof.  So, as the gentle rain falls, the garden drinks its fill and is grateful for all it offers.

It’s been a few weeks since we had rain like this and yet our plants have survived, with a helping hand from Mr. HCB at times.  This was the view of our Guernsey Cream Clematis from our bedroom window this morning - we could almost hear it murmuring “Thank you”!  It’s just a shame it’s not Abstract Thursday!  Even the fact that I need to go out in the rain because I am having my hair done this afternoon doesn’t bother me.

The sight and sound of the rain prompted me to think of all those places where there is no rain for days, weeks, months and even years and where people struggle to feed their families because their crops have failed and to think that we grumbled because we had no rain for a few weeks.

Mr. HCB says he will soon be going round to work in the greenhouse because he has a lot to do before he goes to Bristol for 3 days of cricket, so hopefully all the rain will fall today and it will be fine tomorrow, Friday and Saturday.

“All morning it has been raining;
     in the language of the garden,
          this is happiness.”
