Heading for the pond

I walked through the winter wheat field in the evening, and Mr. Swan thought it's better stop grazing there for a while. I can finally say that the wheat has survived, and looking from the middle it looks better than from edges.

Now I should get around to fertilizing it, but last night it rained six millimetres, so it's a bit muddy now, and there's about the same in the forecast for tomorrow, more for Saturday and some for Sunday and Monday, too, so it's not going to dry anytime soon.

The upside of the rain is that the last snow has finally thawed, or nearly has. In the extra the same view that I have shot every 4-6 days (4, 10 (extra), 15 (extra) and 19 days ago) during the process. There's still some snow in the far corner, but I suppose it will be gone tomorrow. It took 22 days since the first corner was uncovered!

Bird news: Mrs. Swan is sitting on eggs behind those birches, saw the first redstart this spring on the yard, and a rare visitor, a lesser spotted woodpecker.
