Lunch at Rico's

It is almost a decade since we last met our friends Liane and Trish in Edinburgh when we saw them at the Dome for drinks on 7th December 2013. This morning our friends woke at 2:15am for a taxi to take them to Bristol airport at 3:15am, so that they could meet us for lunch at 1pm at Rico's on North Castle Street.

Together again, the four of us enjoyed a wonderful meal complete with fizz to toast our reunion, a bottle of red (for Mr hazelh and Trish) and one of white (for Liane and me), and pudding wine. The most colourful dish was Liane's rhubarb pudding, as blipped. (It was not as colourful as the outfit that Zandra Rhodes was wearing in a photo that Liane and Trish showed us. They had just seen her at the Dovecot Studios having visited the wallpaper exhibition - sans guided tour(!))

In other news, this morning's School research committee meeting was a very joyous occasion. I wish that I had counted the number of times our research director uttered the word 'fantastic' as he presented the results of REF2021 for our two units of assessment, and for the University as a whole.

Exercise today: walking (13,697 steps).
