A Quick Response

Pat and I volunteered on Sunday this week at Hill of Tarvit Mansionhouse. Visitors were steady throughout the day and the weather was fairly pleasant.

The volunteer guides move from room to room on an hourly rota. I had swapped with Pat and was upstairs for two consecutive hours. The main stair is the most comfortable stair to climb and Pat can find it awkward.

I was part way through the second hour when a visitor was suddenly taken unwell. He advised me he needed to be in a hospital as soon as possible. I sat him down on a nearby chair.

One of the visitors nearby called 999 and the patient was able to describe his symptoms to the operator. An emergency ambulance was dispatched and arrived within 15 minutes. The paramedics were quite superb in providing monitoring and treatment immediately. They then carefully manoeuvred their patient into a wheelchair before taking him to the ambulance, and then to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. He would be continually monitored in the ambulance.

Most visitors and guides were unaware of the "drama" including Pat! Of course, she required the full story. She remarked that she was pleased that I had swapped with her.

Today’s Entry is of bluebells under trees at Hill of Tarvit.
