Mayfly

Dark. It was dark despite the full sunshine, under the trees. The shot is in colour, but there's almost no colour as this Mayfly makes a break for the sky.

If dragonflies in flight are hard, Mayflies are almost impossible. They go up, then they go down, and then up again. Chaotically, erratically, and there's a great deal of luck involved as to whether the camera can lock onto the fly as opposed to the riverbank, or the sunlight reflected from the river's surface.

An odd shot that you'll either like or not. But then, isn't that like every shot?
