Dunstanburgh

A trip into Alnwick this morning to do a bit of food shopping.  Back to base and then out again, on foot this time.

We walked the mile down to Craster and then along the coast to Dunstanburgh castle, stopping off down by the sea for lunch.  Lots of people walking the coast, but strangely, hardly any eye contact from anyone, which is unusual amongst walkers.  I mentioned it to Caitlin when we got back, and she finds it strange.

It was chilly along the coast but once we’d skirted the castle and headed up alongside the golf course, it wasn’t too bad.  There were quite a few young stonechats playing hide from the camera.

Up the road to Dunstan Steads and back to base along the inland footpath, lots of feeding skylarks (wrong lens) and this view looking across the gorse filled quarry towards the only two parts of the castle visible on the skyline.

Only five miles, but it worked for us.
