No Mow May

... though actually it's not just in May that not a lot of mowing is done here. There's a lot to mow on our two acre plot, the ancient tractor mower often breaks and takes time to repair, and much of the time P has other priorities in the garden. Some areas are kept cut, though not to a height most people would think of as a lawn, but this long stretch up one side of the garden, with a mixture of self-seeded garden flowers and pretty weeds among the grass, is usually left to grow. At present the columbines are pretty, pink and deep purple, and behind them there is lots of Queen Anne's lace, delicate in the dappled shade under the hazels. Soon, the teasels will be producing heads again. There are too many nettles too - good for wildlife, but always threatening to take over.

This was one of Monday's photos: I was glad of a quiet walk round the garden after a stressful and exhausting day. I'm slowly catching up with missed blips; my laptop is working a bit better at present, though it's still slow and needs to be handled with kid gloves. I've removed huge amounts of material from it and done lots of backing up, in anticipation of its imminent demise and/or replacement.
