A view from Jeanneb

Last holiday blip!

Bass Rock.

After a huge breakfast we left Gifford to follow the East Lothian Coastal route to North Berwick. Passing through Muirfield it is also the Scottish Golf Route or something like that!

We spent two hours in North Berwick, walking across the golf course to the beach and then along to the headland with the Bass Rock in view all the way. Had a coffee in front of the remains of St Andrew’s old Kirk dating from the 12th century.   The Scottish Seabird Centre is also on the headland so we took a look. Amazing to learn that more than half of Europe’s seabirds are to be found in Scotland. If you take a look at my zoomed view of Bass Rock, which I took from a viewpoint a bit further up the road, I think you can easily believe that!  The mass of white is all seabirds and you can see many flying around

We walked back through the town which is delightful. Some interesting and unusual shops.
One of our reasons for a stop over on the eastern side of the Borders was to be able to call in to see our dear friends in Northumberland. Lovely to see you both R and I. Hope we see you again soon.

Home now and washing already on as I have a fairly quick turn around before heading to the SW in stead of the NW next week!
At least I won’t have too much time to dwell on being back from holiday.
