Monsal Trail and Market

We got out earlier than usual today, and spent quite a while at the market which was fun. I bought a few essentials like wooden spoons and a battery block and Neil got a couple of belts.

Then we had lunch at the Secret Garden Café again. The tripadvisor reviews are pretty bad, but the food is good even if it's slow to arrive. The drinks are overpriced but my filter coffee was very nice. It's a lovely courtyard to sit in outside, and for us it was just perfect.

Then after a rest we drove up to the Monsal Trail to avoid having to do the steep climb on our bikes then we unloaded the bikes and cycled along for three miles. It's a slight upward incline the whole way, but it was worth it for the scenery.

We came through the first tunnel, which was rather a spooky experience and onto a viaduct with a great view. The rain that had been threatening started then, so we cycled back rather faster than we'd cycled out, and with the slight downhill incline it was an exhilarating ride.

So far, a good day!
