Weather

A bit of umming and ahing over going out with the walking group today, but the weather forecast suggested only 0.3 mm of rain at our destination. There were only seven of us, as opposed to the usual 20+, so evidently quite a lot of people had been put off by the gloomy skies, and it was actually raining slightly as I drove to the meeting point, regretting that I hadn't bothered with an anorak.

It was nice being in a small group anyway, and the rain mostly held off. The walk was not terribly interesting, although we did visit the point where the Canal de la Robine joins the river Aude. Extra: the railway crossing the river at this point. There were some quite exciting weirs there, and we watched with some interest as a British crew wove rather haphazardly towards the only possible channel to join the canal. Also saw a heron, but too far away to blip.

On the second half of the walk we turned so that the wind was in our faces, and then it started spitting rain, so it wasn't that pleasant. Still, we made it back to the cars just minutes before it started raining properly. Stats: 9.2 km, 50 m climbing, 2 hours 45 minutes. I was glad to have made the effort even if conditions weren't ideal. Got to get the kilometres in before July!

A bit of shopping and home. We decided to skip the pizza and wine extravaganza this week, so we've had a glass of wine and some roasted tomatoes with labneh on the sofa.
