Pollinators

The numbers of flowers this year have been very high. Road verges have been covered in Dandelions. Indeed some fields are virtually with them.

Wild poppies are already spreading around our door and will make quite a splash.

We do not have a lawn. We have an area of grass, moss and several kinds of wild flowers. Think daisies and many other plants which are normally called weeds.

After being mowed the daisies are flowering again within 48 hours. Our garden is visited by bees, butterflies and moths.

Pat and I talked to our great friend Sammy who had conducted the Silver Band at our wedding. Indeed he wrote a variation on "Run Rabbit Run" which was a wonderful surprise.

Sammy is recovering from a stroke which has left him partially disabled. He now describes himself as a one-armed golfer!

Anyway Sammy and Mae are getting together for a midsummer day lunch here. It will be a great day. Sammy and I first met at the Boys Brigade in 1960.

And today’s Blipfoto shows some of the flowers around us.
