Anyone know what this is? I don’t.

Spotted on our first longer walk this morning (after Covid).
It was in a grassy area near trees.
I though at first glance it looked like a tortoise!
But it is not a hard shell and looks like some kind of fungi.
So if a anyone has any idea that would be great.
