I can’t believe that one day after I blipped the Century plant, I’m blipping my beautiful, huge desert spoon. I was preparing to leave this morning when I noticed the stalk beginning to grow from its center. (It’s shorter than it appears because of the angle). While it’s similar to yesterday’s Agave americana, and the stalk will grow as high as it, there will be differences. This plant, which I raised from a pup beginning 15 years ago, has never “bloomed.” From what I have read, this shouldn’t kill the plant. It won’t be as pretty as the century plant, though. It will look like a giant spear of asparagus. Ick!
